Suanbo is known for its hot spring baths and for its skiing. It is a large tourist village - there's not really much else but tourist facilities - hotels and baths and restaurants. Suanbo is part of Chungju city.
It's a very pleasant place - fresh air - close to the countryside - not generally crowded.
Nearest trains are in Chungju to the north, and in Jeomchon to the south.
Intercity bus terminal has buses to and from Seoul, Seongnam, Daegu, Jeomchon, Andong, Cheongju, etc... Local buses also stop here.
