Daejeon (대전) is the fifth biggest city in Korea and is home to most of Korea's high-tech industries including semi-conductors (반도체), KARI (Korean Aerospace Research Agency - 한국우주항공연구소), among others. There are a number of institutions of higher learning, including the highly regarding technology university KAIST.

The city has an extensive bus system and numerous taxis as well as a subway system.

It has a foreigners' bar and an Outback steak house. The local VIPS is another popular restaurant, serving Western food.

There is a fairly large zoo, including a "safari" ride. There is a spa as well as many jjimjilpangs. There is an ice skating rink.
