(Info on Jungdo and Yanggu ferries good as of August 2005.)

Boat to Jungdo (an island just west of the urban area, in Uiamho Lake) It leaves from its dock Jungdo Mooring, near Doosan Resort. Runs about every half hour in the summer. The fare is 4,300 won for non-residents of Kangwon-do, 3,900 won for Kangwon-do residents.

Take buses 11, 12 or 12-1 from Chuncheon, 950 won to the dam. The bus ride takes about 45 minutes.

The ferry costs 5,000 won each way and takes a bit over half an hour for the trip.

  • Summer, 5/1 to 9/6

from Soyang Dam to Yanggu Pier: 8:30; 10:30; 11:30; 12:30; 13:30; 14:30; 15:30; 16:30; 18:00. from Yanggu Pier to Soyang Dam: 9:10, 11:10; 12:10; 13:10; 14:10; 15:10; 16:10; 17:10; 18:40

  • Spring and Autumn, 3/1 to 4/30 and 9/7 to 11/9

Tour boats leave from Soyang Dam. There's an 8,000 won tour around the lake. Or, rent a high-speed motorboat with guide to cruise around for not too long. Prices for the speed boats (inc. driver) are 20,000 won for 4 kms.; 30,000 won for 8 kms.; 40,000 man for 12 kms.; and 60,000 won for 16 kms. Boats fit several people.

Also there are ferries going to a dock near Guseong Waterfall and Cheongpyeongsa from that Soyang Dam location.
